ISO 8000-118 (Published 2025-03) – A New #DataQuality Standard in the ISO 8000 Series & a Smarter Alternative to Traditional Addresses – By Sheron Philip Koshy @ECCMA
In a world where nearly everyone carries a GPS-enabled smartphone, is it time to rethink traditional postal addresses? Many delivery services and location-based applications already rely on GPS coordinates for pinpoint accuracy. Now, there’s a standardized approach that takes this a step further: ISO 8000-118, a newly published addition to the hashtag#ISO8000 hashtag#DataStandards series by ISO.What is ISO 8000-118? ISO 8000-118 defines a standardized method for converting GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude) and floor/elevation information into a concise 14-character string for floor information and 15-character string for elevation (in meters) information—and back again. This provides a precise, structured, and efficient way to manage location-based data, offering a smarter alternative to traditional addressing systems.Live Demo – e-NLI by ECCMAWant to see it in action? Andrew Cohen elected to chair ASTM F49.03 subcommittee – Digital Information in the Supply Chain – Essential Data Elements
We felt it important to reach out now to reiterate how much we value all what you bring to ASTM through your membership and engagement. We recognize these are uncertain times for many of you, especially those working with the U.S. federal government. While it pales in comparison to the impact this disruption may be having on you personally, the current environment has also been disruptive to our standards development process. We want you to know that we are here to support your continued participation. While our work together is driven by technical considerations, standards development at ASTM is still about people from industry, government, and other organizations uniting in purpose to learn from one another and reach a consensus. It is this type of public/private collaboration that makes the ASTM consensus process so dynamic and successful. It is our hope that we can navigate these disruptions and challenges together and look forward to continuing our collaboration. Andrew … [Read more...] about Andrew Cohen elected to chair ASTM F49.03 subcommittee – Digital Information in the Supply Chain – Essential Data Elements
How Highway lies to their customers : r/FreightBrokers
Vlad here. So I booked a load today and the broker asked for vin#. I happily provided it and the broker shut me down completely - he say the "vin doesn't match" what he sees on Highway. He send me a screenshot from Highway saying that truck was registered under different MC - and I actually knew the company, it belonged to a friend of mine. It said the truck was there for 3 years under that mc. This truck is my baby, it was the first truck I bought in 2021 with 70mi on the odometer. It hasn't been under any MC except mine. I called Highway to rip them a new one. It turns out NONE of the trucks listed under my profile match the actual trucks I have on my policy & on the road. NONE. The poor rep from Highway figured out he fucked up somehow, maybe he wasn't supposed to give me that info and quickly transfered me to a manager. See more in the link below.
